Meet the Team

We're Here to Serve!

If you have any questions, we're here to serve. Please feel free to drop by the church and get to know us better.

Chad Tingley - Senior Pastor

Ministry at South

I am honored to serve South as lead pastor. Though I wear many hats, I am most recognizable as the primary communicator of Scripture on most Sundays. I love the challenge of communicating God’s Word and seeing how the Holy Spirit transforms our lives. I work with our elders, staff, and ministry leaders to develop strategies to lead people to become wholly devoted followers of Jesus.

Family? Pets?

God has blessed me with three beautiful ladies; they are the greatest joy of my life. The first lady of my life is my wife Liz. Our lives intersected because of our love for Jesus and calling to serve His Church. Our first-born daughter is our ever energetic and imaginative brown-eyed girl Lyla Mae. Rounding out our family is our outgoing and loving blue-eyed Lexie Kay. In addition to our two girls, we have two hairy boys that we rescued, our dog Raggs and his 70 lb brother Winston.

Hobbies?

In our spare time, Liz and I love to eat! It seems that our plans often revolve around what food we will eat whether that is cooking at home or trying to find our new favorite treat. I also love playing in the pool or building a sandcastle on the beach with Lyla and Lexie. Basketball is another favorite pastime; however, these days I find it is better to watch it instead of playing it. When trying to wind down, one of my favorite shows to binge watch on Netflix is Friday Night Lights - I love Coach Taylor!

Interesting thing to know about me

When I was 17, I drove a beautiful 1981 Chevy Citation into a flooded creek. You’ll have to get the details from me in person.

Dr. Timothy Dwyer - Associate Pastor

Ministry at South

I share in preaching and teaching, work with interns, and provide strategic support to Pastor Chad.

Family? Pets?

I have a wonderful wife, Paula,  and two sons: Peter, a police officer in Sandy Springs, Georgia; and Philip, a software engineer in Indianapolis, Indiana. My daughters-in-law are Nikki and Courtney, and there is my adorable grandson Hudson, (Peter's son). At home, we share our lives (and couches, it appears) with Dakota, king of the Huskies!

Hobbies?

Reading...and more reading, especially about the Civil War and World War II, and sports. Mostly, the Bible is my work, hobby, and life.

Interesting thing to know about me

I once met Joe DiMaggio, the Yankee Clipper, at a minor league baseball game!

Dr. Steven Darr - Traditional Worship Leader

Ministry at South

I'm the traditional worship leader for the 9:00 a.m. service at South. Besides leading worship from the piano each Sunday morning, I also direct the choir and manage the church's two large musical productions presented yearly to the community. In my other life, I am the Vice President and Chief Academic Officer at Warner University.

Family? Pets?

My wife, Joyce, and I have been married for 40 years. We have two grown children and four grandchildren. Our son raises English Bulldogs and our daughter teaches math at Bok Academy.

Hobbies?

I love to garden - flowering trees and shrubs. I grew up on a farm in Ohio. Even though I know I don't look like a farmer, there is still a little "farm blood" in me! I love summertime because I get to mow my yard every four days!

Interesting thing to know about me

In my younger days, I showed Herfords in the country fair and one year won Reserve Grand Champion. Additionally, I was an agricultural tour guide at the Ohio State Fair.

Faith Gallian - College Director

Ministry at South

I head up the Young Adult and College Ministry at South. My passion is to create safe places and environments for young adults to be known, to hear from God, and to go deeper in their faith. My favorite part of the week is Deep Waters, a college-age service on Sunday nights at 7:00 p.m. right here at South.

Family? Pets?

It's just me. I love animals, always have. I grew up with lots of pets from the normal cats and dogs to chickens and a goat named Billy. Currently the only pets I have are the lizards that get in my house ever so often!

Hobbies?

I love the outdoors traveling live music, movies, and opening my home to others!

Interesting thing to know about me

I can talk and sing with my mouth closed!

I'm the facilities manager, and you could say I'm the guy who makes sure everything is working... literally. I cook, construct, garden,  tell a few jokes, and if the moment demands it, call on my EMT training to save a life. The collection of hats that I wear is extensive!

My wife Theresa is a nurse at Lake Wales and I have three sons - Zach, 24, who is an assistant football coach at Wittenburg University, Josh, a junior (and quarterback!) at Frostproof High, and Nathan, who is moving into 7th grade.

Michaela Cook - South Kids Ministry Intern

Ministry at South

I am very blessed to work with our amazing children at South! My top priority is to provide intriguing environments that allow our kids to engage in a relationship with God. It is my hope that through this ministry, our children and families will grow spiritually deeper together.

Family? Pets?

My family is very new as my husband Chance Cook and I are newlyweds who met as interns serving Christ about 4 years ago in our home state of West Virginia. We have recently remodeled a home in Lake Wales where we now live. Chance is a 4th grade teacher at Polk Avenue Elementary and I am a student about to graduate from Warner University with a degree in Elementary Education and Biblical Studies. We have 2 amazing fur babies Brad and Paisley, who are our 6-month old rescue dogs - bundles of energy!

Hobbies?

Chance and I love spending our free time outside with our sweet puppies. We enjoy kayaking, fishing, and lots of sports. We also love football and baseball season (Go Mountaineers! Go Cubs!) as well as having friends and family over for large meals. We are old souls and enjoy watching historical documentaries on Netflix. Our newest endeavor has been training our pups who are on track to become service dogs!

Interesting thing to know

Fall is my absolute favorite season and I miss my West Virginia mountains! Living in Florida means that in the fall I turn my air conditioner down as low as it can go and put on my fuzzy socks and scarves in order to simulate may time at home.
